Design Guide - Extensions

Extensions Information

Single Storey Extensions

Easyplan produces plans for small single storey extensions such as kitchens, garden rooms and porches. We take your initial ideas
and offer you further options and advice drawing upon our many years experience in this type of work.

Two Storey Extensions

When completing larger two storey extensions you can sometime find that your initial ideas spread to other areas of the house,
we take care that any alterations are cost effective and add value to your property.

Home Extension Planning Service

Adding an extension to your property is dependent upon the availability of land adjacent to your home. If it is available an extension
may be a more viable option compared to moving house, especially in areas where the difference in price of a house compared to
increasing the size is a daunting prospect.

Consideration should be given to the impact that your new extension will have on your garden, the surrounding plot and your
neighbours. A small extension can drastically make a room more practical and saleable without having a major effect on the use of
your garden space.

Using experience gained over many years in the industry Easyplan can assess your property layout and offer advice on how the
layout can be amended and/or extended to provide you with the optimum space required. Easyplan work with you to produce a
design which will be flexible should your requirements change in the future and add value to your property should you wish to
move in the future.

Design Advice

Easyplan has the experience and knowledge based on hundreds of previous projects to ensure that the advice you receive is clear,
concise and helpful.

  • Using sketches and explanations Easyplan can clearly demonstrate the potential of your home.
  • Easyplan can assist you in turning an unused space into a study area; additional bedroom
with ensuite; relaxing lounge; or playroom for the children.
  • Easyplan will listen to your requirements and produce a design, which provides you with the space
suitable for your lifestyle whilst working within your chosen budget.

Types of Roof Design

Monopitch roofs are the simplest and most cost effective for this type of extension, usually tiled and at a pitch to match the existing
property. In certain cases a gable roof design may be suitable to avoid adjacent windows or replicate the existing house.

Design features to consider are a sloping ceiling incorporating Rooflights to increase natural lighting to any additional rooms. Roof
designs such as hip or gable roof would normally be incorporated into the design to match the existing property. When considering
door and window positions consider the use and furniture layout including the type of preferred heating system.

Existing House Style

Your home will have a distinctive style already and you are very likely to want any new extension to integrate harmoniously with
design, choice of materials, colour of brickwork, windows and sills.

Easyplan are experts in creating sympathetic architectural designs which are in keeping with the existing look and feel of your
home and neighbourhood while meeting planning control approval. By keeping your house looking as attractive as possible you
will be adding value should you decide to move in the future.
